South Lake Tahoe’s Measure T banned 1,400 vacation rentals in the City but was struck down in court due to an unconstitutional provision. The effort to restore VHR’s is not over. This Tuesday, 4/1/25, the City will decide whether to appeal the ruling and we want to send a strong message the City should:

1) Not appeal the court ruling; and

2) Reinstate the prior VHR ordinance

Doing so will:

  • Restore property rights that were unfairly taken away
  • Restore control of VHR’s to the City
  • Boost our local businesses and job market
  • Generate much-needed revenue for the City

The prior ordinance was the result of years of compromise and fine-tuning. It worked and should be reinstated with commitment to enforcement and oversight.
