Below is a message from my husband Raymond Ng. 

When we meet lawyers, we are very concerned over Iris’ criminal trial. We ask whether the Court system is fair and just. One of the very experienced lawyers with 40 years experience told us not to worry. From his experience the Court system has been fair and just. He told us that there were cases in which trials were ordered to re-trial because of some irregularities. He told us that even the ruling party/government did not win all the cases, especially when there is overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

He told us that upon discovery of ample evidence to the contrary, there had been cases in which the prosecution would even drop charges or amend charges to be lighter ones to reflect the new evidence. He told us, “focus on evidence”, and “talk law”. He told us that Iris’ activism would not affect the case, as the Court of Law just focuses on evidence and nothing else.

Today’s talk would be Iris Koh’s journey bringing to Court 4 police officers, so that the Honourable Judge can determine whether there is a breach of protocol in handling her evidence. With her journey maybe you can learn something more about your legal rights in the Republic of Singapore and also if you so choose, you may want to support her lawsuits financially.
