Saying good-bye to century old white pines, destined for clear cutting by DNR soon

THANK YOU to over (50) concerned family and friends, near and far, who have signed our petition to stop the DNR from clear cutting state land off Reber Rd. in Oscoda County, MI !! Pictured is a dear grandchild who won't be seeing these century-old pines, again, if DNR's plot to cut this pristine 54-acre forested land is carried out. Remember, there are century-old trees, including oaks, red pine, maple, white pine and more...all being slated for clear cutting !! We can make a difference by raising awareness to this tragedy. Please pass on this petition to others and let's continue to pray that we can stop this clear cutting before it is too late ~!~ Please note that area DNR officials state that they do not consider or walk through adjoining private land in their "clear cutting" projects. We have also discovered that the DNR does not contact adjoining landowners about their clear cutting plans. Most of this clear-cut acreage is on grounds 100 to 200 feet above adjoining properties. So saying, water and mud naturally run "downhill". In this case, in addition to adjacent landowners concerns about massive erosion and flooding, we will have displaced wild animals. The run-offs will also impact Perry Lake which feeds Perry Creek and the AuSable River, a quality trout water route which then feeds Lake Huron. In addition, harmful run-off could also dramatically affect adjacent wetlands. Again, because these adjacent areas are PRIVATE, no thought or concern is given to these by DNR. As Michigan citizens, if we were to displace animals, cause extensive damage to our neighbor's properties and/or state properties, heavy fines and possible imprisonment would occur. Let's hold the DNR and the powers to be in Lansing accountable for these rash actions. Let's stop this clear cutting. Please sign our petition and pass this information on to others. THANK YOU ~!~
