The song "Doomsday Blue" by Bambie Thug, chosen as Ireland's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, has raised significant concerns due to its use of satanic imagery during the staging in Ireland's national final. This goes against the spirit of Eurovision, a competition that promotes unity and diversity across Europe. It is important to note that such imagery can be disturbing and offensive to many viewers. According to a study published in the Journal of Media Psychology, exposure to disturbing media content can have negative psychological effects on viewers (Journal of Media Psychology, 2016). Therefore, we call on the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and RTÉ (Raidió Teilifís Éireann), who are responsible for selecting Ireland's entry, to disqualify "Doomsday Blue" from representing Ireland at Eurovision 2024 due to its inappropriate staging.
