Dispute unreasonable Christmas booking conditions. Coolum CottonTree Maroochydore Mudjimba

Dispute unreasonable Christmas booking conditions. Coolum CottonTree Maroochydore Mudjimba
The issue
A recent email was sent to Christmas holiday makers at Coolum, Cotton Tree, Mudjimba and Maroochydore Caravan Parks on the Sunshine Coast, regarding bookings for 26/27 & 27/28 Christmas periods. This petition is to lobby Sunshine Coast Council.
We the undersigned, request the Council:
To dispute the booking conditions proposed by the Park Managers, which includes arbitrary booking blocks for the December 2027 January 2028 holiday period; and Monday to Monday checkin/checkout. The Managers propose to limit the start date, and dictate the duration of a stay.
The wording of their ‘Advance Notice’ (copy below) detailing the change, discourages feedback and the intent is also unclear, given a ‘proposed change’ is later referred to as a ‘decision’.
The proposal of set holiday blocks, removes loyal patrons’ choice and disrupts family leave dates, small business operations and regulars who have faithfully prepaid the fees for a Coolum holiday over many years.
As we understand it, the ability to choose your own start date is a reasonable expectation and standard practice in holiday accommodation. We feel that we are being told when we can holiday and, are being forced to holiday elsewhere and not at our treasured Sunshine Coast destination.

We would like to advise you of important updates to our rebooking structure.
Confirmed Change – Christmas Period 2026/2027
Due to the structure of the 2026/2027 public holidays, arrival and departure days will no longer take place on Saturdays.
From 12 December 2026 onwards, all arrivals and departures during the Christmas period will take place on Mondays.
All existing bookings have been amended in our system to reflect this change. Please log in to your guest portal to review your booking details and note any amendments.
Please ensure that you complete your rebooking and make payment via the provided booking link. Bookings that have not paid their deposit prior to departure will be cancelled.
For general enquiries, we kindly request that you contact us via email rather than visiting the office in person.
Advance Notice – Proposed Rebooking Structure 2027/2028
This section serves as an early advisory notice regarding a potential change to our rebooking structure for the 2027/2028 period.
Rebookings may be required to fit exactly within one of the following date blocks:
Block 1: Monday 13 December – Monday 20 December
Block 2: Monday 20 December – Monday 3 January
(Christmas & New Year period – two-week minimum stay)
Block 3: Monday 3 January – Monday 17 January
(two-week minimum stay)
Block 4: Monday 17 January – Monday 25 January
Please note that all dates and blocks are subject to change. This structure may represent the framework used moving forward.
We are providing this information in advance for awareness only. At this stage, we will not be engaging in discussions regarding how this proposed structure may affect individual bookings.
This decision was not made lightly and is a necessary operational adjustment due to the structure of the calendar across the following years.
We understand that change can be challenging and we ask that you work with us as we implement these updates. Please note that abusive behaviour toward our staff will not be tolerated and may affect future booking opportunities.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Kind Regards,
The Coolum Beach Management Team
