Hi Folks, I know it has been a whole year since I posted, but it has been a year of waiting. The wheels of justice move incredibly slowly, especially if there could be a civil judgement apparently. The Texas Court of Appeals has denied the complete dismissal of charges in Justin's case. To say that the family is disappointed would be an understatement. Justin's life has been on hold for for four years now. It is my understanding that the court or DA felt that Justin "was abusing the system" by appealing.....take that in for a second....Justin is abusing the system. Huh. Because I thought you wanted to put my son in jail for 8 - 25 years for a joke on Facebook. I kind of think that's abusing the system. There is literally no evidence of any intent or serious threat. So why aren't you dismissing the case based on the law? Could it possibly be because you think there will be a civil suit? Are people in Texas okay with your tax dollars being spent on continuing to persecute a young man for a joke? After all, it's been four years and he has been an upstanding citizen, no troubles with the law, working hard in a kitchen of a restaurant, not being able to go to college due to this case but absolutely not being a menace to society. If you, like me, think our taxes could be spent in a better fashion than prosecuting someone for exercising freedom of speech, please sign the petition. Don't be fooled, Texas is trying to set a precedent of prosecuting people who use the internet for whatever they deem is terroristic threat. Think it won't happen to your son or daughter, it can and it will, if we don't stand up to them. Thank you as always, Jennifer
