I have drafted a letter and would like to send with as many petition signatures as possible. Please find below a draft of the letter.
Letter to TSCC2231 management
Dear Discovery Management & board,
This letter is in response to the email sent June 11, 2021, in which the Discovery Management asked that all dog owners not allow their pets to relieve themselves on the landscaped areas, including grassy areas surrounding the building.
I think I speak for all the dog owners that we do not want to destroy the gardens of our building, as we also don’t like the way it looks when the landscaping is disheveled; however, I think the condo management need to not only adjust the types of gardening to make these areas dog-friendly to ensure it is presentable and make it easy for Discovery tenants to understand which areas our dogs are allowed to relieve themselves, but also, the management need to accept that many of the owners and tenants have dogs and adjust their expectations. Furthermore, it would have been preferred to have had a discussion regarding the matter before you went out to purchase NEW cameras and landscaping before discussing these challenges.
I have spoken to many of the dog owners and we found the letter quite confusing as many of us have lived here for many years and never had to deal with this. We also are unsure as to which areas are off-limits, as the provided dog bag receptacles available signal that we are allowed. I am grateful these bags are provided to help & encourage us to pick up, and for those seldom times when we may forget to bring our own bags.
We need to work together to find a compromise- there are several dozen dogs in these 4 buildings and asking us to use the small strip of grass on the north side of singer court is not only not sufficient, it is also incredibly dangerous getting there with the high number of cars accessing the empty construction worker parking lot and speeding around, not to mention the excessive amount of traffic getting in and out of the McDonald’s.
I would like to request the Discovery Condo management and the board to make the back park behind Building 33 & 29, near the pool, a designated off-leash dog park. We would request they properly fence the area in for the dog’s safety, and remedy the flooding problem that has been not rectified in well over 2 years.
We also recommend getting a new landscaping company that has experience with high-volume pet traffic to ensure that the landscaped areas are presentable to look at, as well being an area for dogs to relieve themselves.
We must cooperate together and sending these threatening letters with no instruction or course of action to the dog owners creates a rift between owners and management. We live here. We should not feel unwelcome, especially by those who receive a salary from our monthly condo payments.
Please understand that we want to work with the property management.
Please find attached a petition from all the dog owners and advise how we can assist in working together to make a peaceful “relieving” arrangement for our dogs.
