I start this petition from a deeply personal place. My husband is currently on trial, fighting undue charges brought against him in Saratoga Springs. This is not the first time we have been subjected to such an ordeal. We have found ourselves, again and again, caught in a web of injustice spun by Prosecutor Conrad Hafen.

Formerly a judge in Las Vegas, Nevada, Hafen was disbarred there for incarcerating a public defender who steadfastly and rightfully carried out her duties. Hafen's reason? Contempt of court. Hafen himself admitted to violating state judicial code of conduct in four separate cases. How can we trust such a person who veers away from the path of justice?

Transgressions of this caliber should not be overlooked or forgotten simply because he now operates in a different state. Known for his harsh and unjust treatment of defendants like my husband, Hafen has proven to misuse his power, condemning innocent people for crimes they did not commit. This is undeniably a misuse of his role and a gross miscarriage of justice.

It is high time that we demand protection against this form of corruption within our justice system. We demand that Prosecutor Hafen be held accountable for his past and current actions by disbarment.
