Andy Burnham was elected Metro Mayor for Greater Manchester in May 2017, and was re-elected for a second term in May 2021. He now plans for a third term. That election is in May 2024.

Under the mayoral office of Andy Burnham, in his role as Police & Crimes Commissioner, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) fell from an already failing force into one in special measures.

GMP was placed into an 'advanced phase' of monitoring in November 2020, with it failing to record 80,000 crimes in a year. There was public call for Andy Burnham to step down. Burnham failed to step aside from his role, and chose instead to obfuscate and offset blame. 

Despite special measures being removed in November 2022, Greater Manchester Police is still operating as a criminal outfit of public threat where misogyny and racism is rife. There have been multiple reports of actual physical assaults on women by GMP that Andy Burnham has failed to act on. There is no scrutiny, oversight or valid complaints review system provided by Andy Burnham and his Police & Crimes Commissioner's office. People are literally living in fear of GMP. This has to stop.

Moreso, complainants against GMP are being threatened in turn by Greater Manchester Combined Authority staff (GMCA) for raising issue on the failings of the Police & Crimes Commissioner's office.

Additionally, Andy Burnham has willfuly allowed members of GMCA and local government officers in Greater Manchester to use GMP to threaten and attack dissent and public disclosure on the failings of public office and policing in Greater Manchester. 

There is currently no one providing oversight for GMP. Andy Burnham has ensured no oversight as he has benefitted from this corrupt policing cabal, as have his associates and colleagues.

We can NOT have a third term of this fiasco. The people of Greater Manchester deserve a publicly-focused, regulated and effective police force that police for the public, not act as a bouncer service and personal attack-dogs for public office holders.

Enough is enough.
