The issue

NDIS IS NOT ABOUT TRYING TO KEEP PEOPLE IN THEIR OWN HOMES!

I am one among many who are being forced to leave our homes, our communities, and the life we've built over years. Since 1996, I have lived in my town, close to my daughter and granddaughters. Now, due to the government's Home and Living assessments policy for people with disabilities, I am being forced into a group home away from my family. I am told I cannot choose where or how I want to live.

This policy is not just about me; it affects countless individuals across the country who are being uprooted from their lives without any consideration for their choice or mental health impact. The government is forcing us to share homes with strangers and assigning support workers without our input. We are losing control over basic aspects of our lives like meals, shopping, pets - even gardening.

If no suitable group home is available immediately in the allocated area by authorities for me or others like me - we will be forced to live in hospitals until one becomes available. This means living indefinitely in an environment not meant for long-term residence.

This isn't just about housing; it's about dignity and respect for personal autonomy. It's about acknowledging that people with disabilities have a right to make decisions about their own lives.

We urge you all - who believe in human rights and dignity - to join us in calling on the government to stop this unjust practice of forcing disabled individuals into group homes against their will. Please sign this petition today – help us reclaim our rights!
