As a parent, my personal concern laid the foundation for this petition. We hail from Lucknow, UP and my daughter is studying in Mangalore, Karnataka a city known for its top-quality educational institutes. Lack of efficient air connectivity between Lucknow, and Mangalore, is a major hurdle in her education.

About 40,000 thousand students from Uttar Pradesh study in the approximately 300 prestigious engineering, medical, and management colleges located in Mangalore and the surrounding region of Udupi. The journey, however, is unnecessarily long and tiresome due to the lack of direct flight services. While there are 7 daily flights each between Lucknow - Bangalore, and Bangalore- Mangalore the students from Lucknow have to change planes and endure the long layovers to reach Mangalore. This not only causes physical stress but also eats into their valuable time that could be used for their studies. 

The problem can be resolved by initiating a direct flight route between Lucknow and Mangalore. Initially, a hopping flight (not requiring change of planes)  may be initiated during semester breaks and start of new session.  Airlines such as Indigo or Air India could take this up and provide immense relief to the students and their families. 

This attempt is not just about comfort but also about ensuring that our future generation doesn't miss out on quality education due to logistical constraints. As the airlines are looking to connect the Tier 2 cities, this route may be initiated.
