Diploma in One Hand, Debt in the Other: Let’s Fix That!
The Issue
As a college student myself, I’ve seen firsthand how unprepared many of us are when it comes to managing money, understanding credit, dealing with student loans, and making smarter financial decisions. We’re expected to take on thousands of dollars in debt, sign complicated loan agreements, and handle adult responsibilities, all without being properly taught how to do any of those things.
Right now, millions of students graduate without the basic financial knowledge they need to succeed in the real world. This lack of education contributes to the growing student debt crisis and leaves young adults vulnerable to financial burdens.
That is why I am calling for a change. I believe at least two financial literacy courses should be mandatory graduation requirements for both high school and college students. These courses should cover essential topics like budgeting, credit scores, loans, investing, and saving for the future.
By providing students with real world financial skills, we can reduce debt, increase financial independence, and set the future generations up for success.
If you believe students deserve the tools to make smarter financial decisions and avoid lifelong debt, please sign and share this petition. Together, we can make a difference!
