Thank you to the thousands of people who emailed their Senators this week to keep mobile phones in detention. You might have seen that Peter Dutton’s Bill made it through the lower house. Now, Senator Lambie could decide if the Bill makes it through the Senate.
Senator Lambie believes you have the right to be heard by politicians. That's why she wants your advice on this important vote.
This week our petition made it all the way to Parliament House, where Labor, Greens, and crossbench MPs took notice. They now all oppose this inhumane Bill.
If we can explain to Senator Lambie why this Bill is cruel and unnecessary, she might agree to vote against it. Click here to complete the Senator’s poll and show her you care.
When you complete the poll, make sure you select “No, you shouldn't vote to make the bill law.” Then, you’ll be asked to explain why - please keep it respectful and polite when offering your opinion. We need Senator Lambie onside.
The National Justice Project stopped Peter Dutton from ripping the phones out of asylum seekers’ hands once before in the Federal Court. With all of you with us, I know we can do it again.
