Petition updateBesoin de lettres supplémentaires pour écrire nos langues en WhatsApp
Will send my petition letter soon to Jan Koum

Dear friends, thank you for your signatures and for your support with this issue. I just discovered this slogan on the WhatsApp website:
"Let's make WhatsApp available to everyone in the world!"
You can find that here on their blog: https://blog.whatsapp.com/
I am glad, that so many friends have signed and confirmed the validity of my reasoning, that with a few extra characters, WhatsApp will become accessible for so many more African languages. I believe WhatsApp does want to serve all users and serve many languages; they just do not have Africa on their radar.
On the other hand I am depressed, that signatures for my petition have not snowballed amoung African users. We do not understand why. Maybe the practical signing is too difficult? It is asking for an e-mail address and many people here are using WhatsApp and smart-phones but may not actively be using e-mail or may be reluctant to give their mail address?
I had hoped for 20.000 signatures, in view of the claimed 1.000.000.000 active WhatsApp users.
Still I want Jan Koum to read about the issue of the missing letters. So in a few days, when I am back to my desk, I will hand in my petition and just hope that Jan and the technicians who make WhatsApp will get to see my mail and will understand and add the few needed characters.
Thank you all again,
Martin
