Canada must take bold steps to build a "Stronger North" by creating a critical mass of people who can live, work, produce, and prosper—ensuring self-reliance while safeguarding the nation's territorial integrity. This petition does not claim to solve all challenges but calls for a targeted pilot initiative: transforming small towns with high growth potential into mid-sized industrial cities centered around processing and manufacturing industries.

Currently, Canada exports vast amounts of raw materials—oil, gas, and minerals—essentially transferring its natural wealth elsewhere. If we continue to deplete our resources without reinvesting in sustainable economic infrastructure, we risk long-term environmental and economic consequences. A well-balanced economy should not only extract resources but also process and manufacture them into finished products, reducing trade deficits and strengthening domestic industry.

Towards addressing this, Canada can strategically develop 10 mid-sized industrial cities across provinces, fostering national industrial growth in value-added manufacturing. This initiative will drive import substitution, boost exports, and lay the foundation for a self-sustaining, innovation-driven economy. As a pilot project, it will set the stage for broader economic expansion, making Canada a "Stronger North" in an increasingly competitive global landscape.

Therefore, creating a series of 10 mid-sized cities across provinces from coast to coast for national industrial growth in processing and manufacturing of finished products for import substitutions and/or exports is only a pilot initiative. It can can stimulate other areas of growth that make Canada a "Stronger North".
