HI Everyone!
Just a quick one: The consultation for Birmingham's new Local Plan is live. We're delighted to see Station Street as part of a new Cultural Quarter Opportunity Site BUT there's no mention of the 115yr old, threatened with demolition, Electric Cinema.
Comment on the plan (Section 11: Growth Zones point 20.15) and tell them ANY cultural quarter here MUST include at the very least a heritage led restoration of The Electric Cinema - not some culture-washed soulless developer slop (Hi Glenbrook Property!)

These consultations are terrible to navigate, awful to comment on and I'm convinced designed to put you off. But please do persevere. Make your voice heard against the blandification of Station Street and Birmingham. Maybe also throw in a call for The Futurist to be turned into an ace independent gig venue too for good measure.
Until our next call to arms!
