The Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town, Thabo Makgoba, has called for the swift removal of President Jacob Zuma.

Delivering his Christmas Eve sermon at St George's Cathedral in Cape Town, he said South Africa is currently going through a terrible period.

Makgoba said he has spoken with the new ANC leadership, offering the support of the faith community, on condition that the party re-establish moral and ethical leadership.
