Happy Friday!

On Monday, 28 speakers - myself included - spoke on Motion IE4.3 about the Bloor West Complete Street Extension and other cycling projects at the Infrastructure & Environment Committee. I delivered this petition with 1,906 signatures at the time of the meeting, as well as stressed the need to further extend the bike lanes all the way to Mississauga. While no additional motions were introduced, the motion passed with Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie and Councillors Amber Morley, Dianne Saxe, and Mike Colle voting in favour. You can read more details - including what the speakers said - on my blog.

For those of you who signed this petition, e-mailed the Infrastructure & Environment Committee, and/or spoke in support of the project on Monday, I thank you for all you have done to make this Bloor extension a reality.

The Motion will now go to Toronto City Council from Wednesday, June 14 to Friday, June 16 for a final vote. For one final action item, I encourage you to please e-mail (or phone) your councillor to get them to support the Bloor West Complete Street Extension. If your councillor voted in favour of the project at committee (McKelvie, Morley, Saxe, or Colle), it's a good idea to thank them for their support.

I will issue one final update after the City Council vote.

Ride safe!

Rob

PS: For those who live in Mississauga, a decision on their Bloor Street Integrated Project was deferred due to a lack of consensus on whether to pursue Alternative #5 (with four traffic lanes) or #6 (with two lanes plus a centre turning lane).
