THE 6 TON ELEPHANT THAT WON'T GO AWAY Ryan Bundy, in his opening statement, placed a family portrait on his table for all the jury to see and told the jury how much he missed his family. Lisa Bundy, Ammon's wife, mentioned in a post the excruciating pain of being separated from her soul mate and not being able to touch him even during trial. This and much more underscores the inconceivable act of injustice by the court by throwing the prisoners in jail pending the outcome of the trial. None of the beatings, the stealing of legal notes by prison staff, the braiding of sheets to make a rope, the salt and pepper scandal, none of that, should be relevant or even exist, because the prisoners have a fundamental right to pre conviction freedom. It is as basic and fundamental as the earth's axis. One of the injustices goes like this: 1. Federal judge, with many years of training and experience, decides to place non-convicted prisoner in jail pending trial. 2. American public, including the jury, thinks that there must be some guilt or the judge would not have put them in jail. 3. Jury sees prisoners come to court in chains, shackles, and surrounded by guards. Psychologically, they already have them convicted, they must be guilty because government knows what it is doing. 4. Jury knows they are guilty of something, just need to decide degree of guilt and length of sentence.
