We've handed in our documents at the Home Affairs Department in Middelburg and although they have finally accepted them and promised to send them to the head office for processing, we are still very worried that they will just file them in a drawer and forget about them. We have been in touch with the local press which we hope will do a story to expose what is happening to us and try to push the Department to register our baby in a more timely manner. The official who is dealing with our case doesn't respond to any of our emails asking for an update or more information about our application. We have also filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission and emailed all the contacts that people have sent us. We have also emailed numerous gay rights organizations in South Africa in an attempt to shine a light on the homophobia that we are facing.
