The Issue

i-Ready is a program being implemented in many districts nowadays. Adults see it as a personalized learning system that will teach students well. But as many students think, this program is simply a waste of money that could and should be used for things for students. This program decides that if a student fails a lesson, they should re-do the whole thing instead of focusing on one thing they got wrong. This discourages many and is quite frankly time-consuming. Many districts have also decided to start inputting this as a graded assignment. Students, especially middle schoolers, have plenty of homework to begin with and i-Ready only adds to that. The graphics are not good, either. Many things are pixelized and the characters do not really connect with students. In short, this program is not helping students learn but rather wasting valuable time.
