For years now, many places that show teacher appreciation are only offering it to K-12 educators. It is very frustrating that we as preschool or early childhood educators pour our hearts into our jobs and provide lesson plans, spend money on supplies, spend countless hours at home preparing for our lessons, making sure every child's physical, social, emotional, academic, and developmental need are being met. We spend countless hours working overtime, sometimes being at work for 10-12 hours a day, then taking our work home, and still providing for our families, taking care of our household and we're not considered educators. We are just as important as K-12 teachers. It is our responsibility to ensure that children are prepared for the world of school. I think we should be valued and shown appreciation just like every other educator out there. I can't tell you the thousands of dollars I have spent on my classroom on a less than desirable salary. We don't make nearly as much as we should but we do it because we do it for the children not the money. Many of us sacrifice our own needs or wants because we see something that will help a students growth, or will bring a smile to a challenging child's face. Please help me in making all educators equal and appreciated.
