I am petitioning for children and adults who have special needs to be given a lapel pin or a bracelet that will alert their teachers or caretakers that the person has left the area unaccompanied and may be in danger. On Friday October 4th Avonte Oquendo walked out of his Long Island City high school without anyone noticing he left the building. Five days later Avonte is still missing. There is  no explanation from the High School as to why he was allowed to walk away with no security officers or school staff taking notice. I am the mother of two autistic boys both of who are known to wander off. I believe this system will prevent future incidents like the one Avonte and his family are experiencing right now. Please Support them.
