We are a community united in grief and anger over the brutal murder of Mandy Baily on December 27, 2023. The accused is none other than her ex-husband, Alberto Matthews. He didn't just take away a life; he shattered an entire family by committing this heinous act in front of their 9-year-old daughter and even firing a shot at her brother. After threatening the children and other family members, Matthews fled the scene only to be apprehended the following day.

Matthews appeared in court in January 2024 and initially abandoned his bail. However, on May 17th, 2024 he applied for bail again - an action we find unacceptable given the severity of his alleged crimes.

We believe that granting bail to someone accused of such horrific acts would not only be an insult to Mandy's memory but also pose a potential threat to public safety. We urge our justice system not to allow this man back onto our streets while awaiting trial.
