Update From "The Salem News" Tuesday morning, Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles said the commission will meet in special session Tuesday or Wednesday to rescind that order (to lower the flag out of "mourning" the Supreme Court Decision on gay marriage) "out of respect for veterans and those currently serving in the military." He said all three commissioners are expected to vote to rescind the decision. Thank you all for participating in this petition and fulfilling your civic duty to take part in our democratic system of government. I'm sure some hoped for other reasons to be listed for their decision to rescind the "mourning period", but hopefully we can agree that the main goal of the petition has been accomplished and declare a victory for reasonableness in Dent County.
