Montreal: investing over $500k to subsidize horse abuse

Hello, Dear Supporter, It's been a roller-coaster lately for our horses in Montreal. Our Mayor continues to deny the reality that horses do not belong in the city. The City of Montreal is now investing over $500k of public funds to subsidize an outdated and private industry at the expense of the horses, who are exploited daily for tourist entertainment. Not to mention that the Mayor has failed to grant the people of Montreal a public consultation on this issue which was requested in September 2015. And he never published the feasibility report by the private organization Cheval Cheval, which was financed with $48K of public funds. In all these years the by-laws concerning the horse-drawn carriages have failed to be enforced and many horses have suffered and died. While cities such as Rome are in the process of replacing the horse-drawn carriages with electric carriages, Montreal is moving backwards. Montrealers will be called to vote on November 5, 2017 and will elect leaders who show compassion for all our animals.
