Next month, the DNC will elect a new party chair. The RNC will likely appoint one sometime before then. We have a real opportunity to impact the national conversation in the races for the chair positions and force the candidates to publicly recognize the need for political reform and open primaries. Our petition calling on the incoming chairs to unrig our electoral process has over 40,000 signatures, but to really deliver an impact we need to reach at least 100,000 signatures by the end of the month when we will deliver it. Please help us reach our goal before the deadline on January 31st, by signing our new petition. The chairs of the parties have the legal authority to open the primaries in every state. We made history last summer when we got the DNC to vote in a 50-state open primaries measure and deterred the RNC from closing up even more primaries, with a 40,000 signature petition. We need to grab both parties’ attention again and let them know we are more committed than ever to reforming our broken democracy. The sooner we reach our goal, the sooner we can deliver the petition to the candidates and force them to recognize that locking out 25 million voters from the primaries is undemocratic and cannot stand!
