We Democrats and supporters of the Democratic Party call on Hillary Clinton to resign the party's nomination for the US Presidency. And we call on the Democratic National Committee to replace her with a suitable person who is more able to win the election against the danger that is Donald Trump.

Hillary Clinton would probably have made a good President, but she is too damaged now. We do not believe that her email affairs were the crime of the century, but she clearly misused her office and that fact is now damaging the country's chances of continuing to have a Democrat in the White House after President Obama leaves office. The FBI's announcement that it is reopening the emails case leads us to decide that enough is enough. Mrs Clinton, please withdraw your candidacy so that another Democrat can replace you. And please do so as soon as possible. Democratic National Committee, please ask for her formal resignation of the nomination.

The new nominee could be Tim Kaine, or it could be Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren or somebody else. But it cannot be Mrs Clinton.

Let us have a candidate who can defeat the unhinged Republican candidate.
