Estimant que le processus d'évaluation de l'état physique et psychologique des singes de la Nasa avait été tronqué et leur mise à mort injustifiée, alors que les singes auraient pu bénéficier de soins et d'une retraite adaptés, la MFP (Mission Française pour Singes en Danger) a décidé de porter plainte et de se porter partie civile auprès du Tribunal fédéral de Washington contre le directeur de la NASA (agence spatiale américaine).

Les faits
En 2019, au sein d'un des centres de recherches de la Nasa, 27 singes destinés à la recherche spatiale ont été euthanasiés arbitrairement. Révélée par The Guardian, l'affaire suscite un émoi international.

Dans le cadre d'un énième projet de recherches, 27 singes étaient détenus au sein des locaux de la Nasa en Californie. Le 2 février 2019, la direction de l'agence spatiale américaine a décidé lâchement de les euthanasier ; récompense abject pour service rendu au cours duquel les malheureuses victimes ont dû subir de nombreux actes de maltraitance et de barbarie, selon Joachim Younès, président de l’association MFP. 

Révélée aujourd’hui par The Guardian, la décision suscite un émoi considérable, outre-Atlantique. Certes ces singes étaient âgés, et 21 d'entre eux présentaient des symptômes de la maladie de Parkinson « Ils souffraient de la privation éthologique et des frustrations inhérentes à une vie passée dans un laboratoire », explique John Gluck, expert en éthique animale à l'université du Nouveau-Mexique. Néanmoins, le représentant de la MFP souligne qu’ils auraient pu être confiés à un refuge spécialisé, tels que l’ont été certains singes de laboratoire européen malgré leur état bien plus grave.

Outre la voix du représentant de la MFP en Europe, plusieurs autres dans le monde ont fait part de leur incompréhension, face au sort qui a été réservé à ces primates jugés plus utiles par la direction de la NASA. Kathleen Rice, élue démocrate à la chambre des représentants, a d'ailleurs adressé un courrier à l'administrateur de l’agence spatiale américaine, Jim Bridenstine, pour obtenir des éclaircissements à ce propos.
 
74 000 primates utilisés en 2017

Encore selon The Guardian, 74 000 primates ont été utilisés en 2017 aux États-Unis dans le cadre de recherches en laboratoire. Le gouvernement américain tente de mettre « progressivement fin » à cette pratique, l'institut national de santé ayant par exemple décidé de ne plus utiliser de chimpanzés dans le cadre d'expériences.

LES RÈGLES DE LA SOCIÉTÉ NE SONT PAS LES NÔTRES, en matière d’expérimentation animale ! 

Agissons ensemble une énième fois pour eux et tous les autres animaux plongés dans la détresse profonde et qui n'ont plus que VOUS et nous afin espérer renouer avec la vie en toute sécurité auprès de leurs congénères. Agissons en faveur de ces êtres méprisés à qui l'on a donné pour unique nom un simple numéro. Agissons afin qu’ils puissent recouvrer leur dignité, leur véritable nom !

Les laboratoires d'expérimentation animale ne sont ni des rois ni des dieux ! La vie de ces êtres sensibles, appliqués et emplis d'empathie ne leur appartient pas, pas plus que celle des millions d'animaux de laboratoire qui périssent chaque année sous leurs griffes au seul nom : la cupidité !

Enfin, sachez qu’à travers votre engagement solidaire auprès de ces nouvelles victimes de la bêtise humaine, vous contribuez directement à l’amélioration de la protection de toutes les espèces de primates actuellement en danger critique, ainsi que celle des autres animaux de laboratoire et à une meilleure organisation du personnel soignant des établissements de réhabilitation animale tels que le nôtre.

Believing that NASA's process of assessing the physical and psychological state of the monkeys had been truncated and their killing unjustified, when the monkeys could have benefited from appropriate care and retirement, the MFP (Mission Française for Monkeys in Danger) has decided to file a complaint and file a civil action with the Federal Court in Washington against the director of NASA (American space agency).

In 2019, in one of NASA's research centers, 27 monkeys intended for space research were arbitrarily euthanized. Revealed by our colleagues from The Guardian, the case is causing an international stir.

As part of yet another research project, 27 monkeys were detained at NASA premises in California. On February 2, 2019, the management of the American space agency cowardly decided to euthanize them; despicable reward for service rendered during which the unfortunate victims had to undergo numerous acts of abuse and barbarism, according to Joachim Younès, president of the MFP association.

Revealed today by The Guardian, the decision is causing considerable excitement across the Atlantic. Certainly these monkeys were old, and 21 of them showed symptoms of Parkinson's disease "They suffered from the ethological deprivation and frustrations inherent in a life spent in a laboratory", explains John Gluck, expert in animal ethics at the University of New Mexico. Nevertheless, the MFP representative points out that they could have been entrusted to a specialized shelter, as some European laboratory monkeys were despite their much more serious condition.

In addition to the voice of the representative of the MFP in Europe, several others in the world have expressed their incomprehension, faced with the fate that has been reserved for these primates deemed more useful by the management of NASA. Kathleen Rice, elected Democrat to the House of Representatives, has also sent a letter to the administrator of the American space agency, Jim Bridenstine, to obtain clarification on this subject.
 
74,000 primates used in 2017

Again according to The Guardian, 74,000 primates were used in 2017 in the United States for laboratory research. The US government is trying to "gradually put an end" to this practice, the National Institute of Health having for example decided to no longer use chimpanzees in the context of experiments.

THE RULES OF SOCIETY ARE NOT OURS, when it comes to animal experimentation!

Let's act together for the umpteenth time for them and all the other animals plunged into deep distress and who only have YOU and us in order to hope to reconnect with life in complete safety with their fellow creatures. Let us act in favor of these despised beings who have been given a simple number as their only name. Let us act so that they can recover their dignity, their true name!

Animal testing laboratories are neither kings nor gods! The life of these sensitive, diligent and empathetic beings does not belong to them, any more than that of the millions of laboratory animals that perish each year under their claws in the sole name: greed!

Finally, know that through your commitment to solidarity with these new victims of human stupidity, you contribute directly to improving the protection of all species of primates currently in critical danger, as well as that of other laboratory animals and better organization of the nursing staff in animal rehabilitation establishments such as ours.
