Hey everyone, quick update. The assembly will be voting on their version of S-2573 (allowing income driven & loan rehab) on 10/27. I need EVERYONE to participate fully by going to njleg.state.nj.us and sending an email to EVERY single assembly member in NJ. In your emails, you should be requesting they vote YES to A-4084 and ALSO request them to adopt all amendments contained in S-2573. The rehab program in A-4084 is way too vague. The amendments contained in S-2573 were developed by me and Sen. Cunningham's office agreed to include them. I believe without these specific amendments, not one of us will ever be able to rehab our loans without a definitive repayment amount during loan rehab. S-2573 sets the 9 payments you have to make at 15% of the borrower's DISCRETIONARY INCOME. S-2573 also allows the borrower, once a rehab has been successfully completed, to enroll in ANY repayment program, including the income driven repayment option, going forward. This is something that rehab borrowers need in order for them to successfully repay their loans. So, requesting your assembly member to adopt the amendments is CRUCIAL. Thanks everyone--this is the week we need to pound the assembly HARD!!!! I encourage ALL to email every single Assembly member this weekend. We need to slam them all at once....let's not blow this ONLY shot we have right now. I need 100% participation in this effort. Since the weather is awful, today is great day to lend your voices by sending emails to ALL assembly members!!! PLEASE ALSO ENCOURAGE YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS, FRIENDS, ETC...TO ALSO LEND A HELPING HAND IN GETTING THIS MUCH NEEDED LEGISLATION PASSED--FOR THE GOOD OF THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY!!!!
