Since Wegmans Pharmacy began their anti patient generic drug policies I and other patients like me have had to find alternative pharmacies.  Many others have been unable to find alternatives and are going without medications or without the appropriate medications for them.  Personally, I have experienced a further delay to my own care because of these changes.  Due to one of my medications being a control, the hospital pharmacy requires me to be home all day without any knowledge of when or if it will arrive at a specific time on a given day.  Sometimes it takes multiple days.  Sometimes it is the same day or the next.  But because it is a control, I have to sign for the medication. 

Being unable to drive, picking up my medications at my local Wegmans down the street from my house was not just a matter of convenience.  It was a matter of access to my medications and health care.  However, since this change I've had to seek my prescriptions at the local hospital now.  The hospital is on the complete opposite end of the city and living in a transit desert where I am makes it impossible to get there.  I have to have my meds delivered which leaves them subject to unsafe temperatures that exceed their manufacturer specified storage conditions, theft, and ability for anyone to know what conditions I may have or what medications I use if they come up to the door for other deliveries.  It also results in me having to sign for controls when they're delivered, however there is no actual way to know when they will be delivered.  As someone with multiple conditions my care is complex and requires nearly daily medical appointments.  I am unable to sit by the door all day waiting for the medications and when I am home, I am exhausted and unable to stay awake.  Even being home I often move so slowly that I cannot get to the door in time.  Rushing to get there to catch them before they leave risks falls and injuries.  It is just not safe for me. 

However, when I could go to Wegmans with it being down the street, my family could pick up prescriptions on their way home.  It was easy to get them.  I had easy same day access to them when needed.  If there are errors which sometimes do happen when you need manufacturer specific medications as NDCs change without much notice,  it now will takes days to correct resulting in me going without treatments, forcing me into serious unnecessary health risks that would have been prevented had Wegmans not been the catalyst by their anti patient actions.
