Demand WCPO Cincinnati to Dismiss Steve Raleigh Due to Family's Involvement in Assault

The Issue

I, like many others, appreciate justice being served. In particular, when it appears to be skewed in favor of certain individuals due to their prominent positions within society. On June 22, 2024, there was a disturbing event that took place at Montgomery Inn Boathouse involving the family of local news station WCPO's weatherman, Steve Raleigh. His children were involved in an incident that resulted in severe bodily injury to Doug and Lois Morrow, a beloved elderly couple in their late 70s.

In spite of the severity of their actions, especially considering the victims' age and vulnerability, the downplayed response and ensuing court verdict has called to question the integrity of our justice system. The suspected bias became evident when Steve's son, Kyle Raleigh, was treated leniently in court by Judge Alison Hatheway, receiving only a probation sentence.

Steve Raleigh, who also happens to be the son-in-law of former Hamilton County Sheriff Simon Leis, was present during the incident. While we cannot assume his direct involvement, his lack of rightful response and failure to hold his children accountable for their actions paints a worrying picture. It suggests a possibility of special treatment afforded to the Raleigh family due to their connections, a situation that undermines the very principles of democracy and justice that our society holds dear.

The current circumstances require us to act. We need to send a message that such behavior cannot and will not be tolerated, regardless of one's standing in society or perceived influences. WCPO Cincinnati must hold Steve Raleigh accountable for the actions of his family, starting with his dismissal from the station.

Let's work together to uphold the values of our community and demand a just outcome for Doug and Lois Morrow. We must put an end to preferential treatment in our justice system. Please sign this petition to demand justice and accountability.
