The residents of the Gorbals area in Glasgow are currently living under poor housing conditions due to water damage, dampness, and roof damages. These issues have been persistent and are causing significant distress to the community. The New Gorbals Housing Association has a responsibility to ensure that all homes under its management meet acceptable standards of safety and comfort.

The current state of these homes is not only uncomfortable but also poses health risks. Dampness can lead to the growth of mould which can cause respiratory problems, especially among children and older people (source: NHS UK). Furthermore, roof damages expose residents to harsh weather conditions, increasing their vulnerability during winter months.

We urge the New Gorbals Housing Association to prioritise repairs in this area immediately. It is their duty as a housing association to provide safe and habitable homes for all residents. We call upon them not just as an organisation but as fellow members of our community who understand the importance of having a safe home.
