Demand University of Michigan Protect Pro-Palestine Students from Doxxing and Defamation

Demand University of Michigan Protect Pro-Palestine Students from Doxxing and Defamation
The Issue
On November 29th at 10:07 AM, an email approved by the University of Michigan administration was sent to members of the Michigan student body. The email was composed entirely by Jewish allies, with the intent to inform the student body of a ballot recommendation from the TAHRIR coalition - a POC majority, multicultural organization of 60 independent student groups.
Almost immediately, a slew of non-university, right-wing lobbyists and interest groups seized this email to attack student communities, spread intentionally false accusations, and call for the cancellation of democratic student government proceedings. This has resulted in the doxxing and material endangering of two students in a blatant show of Islamophobic and misogynistic incitement. At 6:07 PM, the X account @StopAntisemities posted the following: Islamaphobic Doxxing
It is no accident that this group chose to dox two visibly Muslim women in response to an email sent by a diverse coalition of over sixty student organizations, written by Jewish students. Additionally, despite the vast diversity of this coalition, @StopAntisemites chose to target only one student group in their post: Students Allied for Freedom and Equality, a clear strategic decision to fan the flames of anti-Arab hate and Islamophobia. This social media post has been viewed nearly 500 thousand times. We have included some of the most concerning responses for your immediate attention below:
Despite exhausting every conceivable avenue to bring the concerns of our coalition to the attention of President Ono and the board of regents, their continued inaction has directly contributed to the escalating danger faced by students on this campus. At every juncture, President Ono and the regents have obstinately refused to engage with our coalition allowing threats against our community members to multiply unchecked.
The time is now to enshrine protections for a persecuted and neglected student population. We must urge the Administration to take immediate action to demand protections for Pro-Palestine students from doxing and defamation.
The University of Michigan Administration would rather place its most vulnerable students in the fire - rather than respect their concerns and honor their voices. We demand the University Administration promptly release a statement detailing that these accusations are demonstrably false, emphasizing no wrongdoing on the part of the TAHRIR Coalition or Students Allied for Freedom and Equality, and condemning the multiple threats of violence leveled today against students, especially Salma Hamamy and Nooralhuda Sami. These accusations are yet another insistence of attempts to criminalize people of color and abridge an independent electoral process.
The people united will never be defeated.
Sign on now.
