Moazaz Abayat, a resident of Bethlehem, is once again in the shackles of cruel injustice. On Wednesday, Israeli forces turned his home into a battlefield as they stormed in during the stillness of the night and took him away. This unsettling scene follows a harrowing episode earlier this year when Abayat was released from nearly nine months of torturous detention in Israeli prisons.

Muazzaz spoke to Middle East Eye recounting his dreadful experiences, painting a picture of his sinister journey through several months of inhumane treatment. He narrated tales of severe beatings, unabashed abuse, cruel torture, and inhuman starvation inflicted upon him during his previous detention. He described episodes where he was shackled in iron chains, with a blindfold obscuring his vision, further increasing his torment.

Shockingly, not a single charge was brought against him during his previous confinement, raising serious questions about the legitimacy of his detention. Now, with this re-arrest, Muazzaz is reportedly exhibiting signs of previous torture, demonstrating the miserable condition of his detention arena.

As concerned global citizens, we demand an immediate and unconditional release of Muazzaz Abayat. Further, we urge the international community to condemn this disturbing trend of wrongful detentions and ensure that appropriate actions are taken against those perpetrating such gross injustices.
