The civilian population is suffering immensely, with the most vulnerable—women and children—bearing the brunt of violence. The government of Iraq holds a significant position and responsibility within the region. By raising the crisis in Syria at the United Nations, Iraq can push for immediate action. Advocating for a ceasefire and the protection of women and children are essential steps towards addressing these grave human rights violations. We demand that the international community leverages diplomatic channels to exert pressure on parties involved to halt their violent actions.
