Demand UN action to protect civilians in Syria

Demand UN action to protect civilians in Syria
The Issue
As a Kurd, it breaks my heart to witness the plight of my brothers and sisters facing oppression, but above all, I speak as a human being. The horror of murder and the heinous act of raping women and children are atrocities that defy all morality, regardless of nationality, color, or language. We may not personally know these victims, but humanity demands that we imagine ourselves in their place. If it were your family trapped in this nightmare, how would you feel?
The ongoing conflict in Syria has created a humanitarian crisis that cannot be ignored. The civilian population is suffering immensely, with the most vulnerable—women and children—bearing the brunt of violence. According to reports from international bodies, sexual violence is being used as a weapon of war, leaving devastating impacts on individuals and communities. In a report by the United Nations, it was highlighted that these acts not only violate human rights but also undermine the possibilities for peace and reconciliation.
The government of Iraq holds a significant position and responsibility within the region. By raising the crisis in Syria at the United Nations, Iraq can push for immediate action. Advocating for a ceasefire and the protection of women and children are essential steps towards addressing these grave human rights violations. We demand that the international community leverages diplomatic channels to exert pressure on parties involved to halt their violent actions.
By uniting our voices and urging the United Nations to act, we aim to bring the necessary attention and intervention to end the suffering in Syria. Let’s collectively urge Iraq to champion this cause at the UN, to promote not just regional, but global peace.
Join us in taking a stand against these atrocities. Your signature can drive change and make a difference. Please support this urgent call for action by signing the petition. Together, we can protect civilians and advocate for a Syria where peace and humanity prevail.
