Demand U.N. Intervene for Humanitarian Access to Oleshky
The Issue
In Oleshky, Kherson Region, Ukraine, an appalling situation unfolds as people are starving due to a blockade. This isn't because of a lack of food but because Russia is deliberately denying access to essential supplies. Oleshky is a town trapped in a man-made crisis, echoing the horrors of the Holodomor, a dark chapter in Ukrainian history where starvation was systematically inflicted. This time, modern methods inflict the same agony: food and medicines are blocked, drones patrol, and people are forced to make the unimaginable choice between starvation and risking mines as they attempt to escape.
This crisis affects thousands, including innocent children. The Holodomor Museum has raised alarms, identifying this as yet another intentional famine. The shadow of history looms large, and we cannot let silence cover these injustices again. In 1932, millions perished under Stalin’s engineered famine. Today, in Oleshky, we see the same horrible tactics: starvation, entrapment, and denial of the truth.
Despite admitting to the critical shortages, Russia refuses humanitarian access, blocking efforts by Ukraine and the Red Cross to evacuate those in dire need. This inaction leaves the U.N. as one of our only hopes. The United Nations has the capability to exert international pressure and influence to demand humanitarian corridors.
We must urge the U.N. to intervene and ensure that aid reaches Oleshky. It's imperative that this tragedy isn't allowed to unfold unnoticed. History has shown us the deadly consequences of inaction and silence. We must break this silence and demand action.
We need the international community to step up now. Sign this petition to demand the United Nations take immediate action for humanitarian access and evacuation in Oleshky. Protect the people of Oleshky from becoming victims of yet another man-made famine. Your voice is powerful—use it to make a change. Please sign and share this petition. Slava Ukraini.
