Demand Truth and Accountability from Social Workers in Family Court Cases

The Issue

I speak from a deeply personal and harrowing experience. My children were unjustly removed from my care based on untruths circulated by abusive ex-partners and credulous social workers/professionals. They were then handed over to these individuals, without the requisite orders to attend mandated courses. Adding insult to injury, my newborn was separated from me eight days after birth, in spite of the fact that there were no in-depth assessments or meetings by the social workers. Now, there looms the ominous threat of my baby being put up for adoption, even though I successfully care for my two older children three nights a week 9 months after they was taken without any support, a fact acknowledged by the courts. After denying the lies, its documented 'mother doesn’t understand risks, take responsibility or even engage with services'. After many complaints and trying to find old social workers to hold them accountable of the lies and lack of engagement with my family, I continue to hit dead ends.

This is not an isolated incident and it happens countless times in jurisdictions across the country. Many women that are victims of abuse and report the crime have children removed, the belief is that mother will be in these situations again and the child(ren) are at risk. Most children are given to fathers (abuser) and women are made to attend supervised contact and sent on courses where even the workers acknowledge the wrong doing is happening, such courses have been made for women who have had children romoved but no such course exists for men. Social services do not read between the lines and are not trained or have enough time to find evidence, they believe anything they are told without evidence and then act dramatically on that. I state many abusers are not made to attend courses and then move on to new relationships where this goes under the radar as it is so normalised no police reports are made, these homes are where the child(ren) are now apparently safe from harm.

I see adverts for foster workers and people to adopt, most of these are our children that we can give a loving safe home and in my case I have children at the home already and want my baby to join us. We need funding to support families not to pay foster workers. I still try to fight for my first born to come back home in my full time care as her emotional state has decreased since being forced to live with father and step mother. Been physically and emotionally abused, made to lie and skip education, at 7 years old her voice isn't heard and as for myself after taking my legal rights neither is mine.

It's high time we demand proper training, transparency, honesty, and most importantly, accountability from social workers involved in family court cases. We need strict measures and systems of checks and balances in place to prevent biased or unfounded reports from destroying families and more thorough methods for verifying allegations of child abuse and neglect.

Sign this petition to urge our lawmakers and regulatory bodies to introduce and enforce stricter guidelines, promoting accountability and the pursuit of truth for all parties involved in family court cases based on strong evidence.
