The Issue

Hamilton, Ontario, is home to one of the most dedicated and resilient Pokémon GO communities in Canada. For years, we have gathered at Gage Park, McMaster University and even Jackson Square, braving the elements to ensure that "no trainer is left behind." Whether it’s helping a new player catch their first Legendary or organizing complex Raid Hours, our group—Steelcity Legendary Raiders—has been the heartbeat of the local game.

Unfortunately, our recent application for the Community Ambassador Program was declined without a clear path for feedback or re-evaluation. While we were disappointed by the lack of transparency, our commitment hasn't wavered. I have continued to run our Campfire group solo, maintaining a safe, family-friendly, and inclusive environment for all Hamilton trainers.

Re-evaluating our community for the Ambassador Program isn't just about "perks"; it’s about providing our players with a level playing field through official incentives, item codes, and the specialized "Community Campsite" features that help a local scene truly flourish.

The Community Ambassador Program is essential in supporting grassroots efforts and strengthening the bonds between trainers. To be refused without a straightforward explanation or a chance to improve is a challenge we did not anticipate. Our community deserves transparency and a fair opportunity to participate in this valuable program.

We are calling on Niantic and the Pokémon GO Community Ambassador Program administrators to provide clear feedback on application rejections and a structured path to re-evaluation. Transparency is pivotal; it not only helps applicants improve but also ensures that the most dedicated and passionate communities are given the support they need to thrive.

Join us in advocating for a fair and transparent evaluation process. Sign this petition and help us ensure that dedicated communities like ours are given the chance to shine and grow with the support of the Community Ambassador Program.

After signing, please leave a comment on this petition or reach out to me directly via Campfire (@jtsportcoat) or email (steelcitylegendaryraiders@gmail.com). We want to share your stories! Tell us about your favorite meetup experiences and how the Steelcity Legendary Raiders have impacted your Pokémon GO journey in Hamilton. Your testimonials are powerful evidence of the community we’ve built together. Thank you for your support!
