Dear Citizens of India!

It's time to demand transparency! Bring the BCCI under the RTI Act. We fund cricket through our spending habits, yet we're kept in the dark about its operations. We deserve and it's our right to know how decisions are made and where the money goes. Join us in this crucial battle for transparency in cricket governance!

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) receives funding from various sources, both direct and indirect, which can involve the Indian public:

  1. Taxpayer Funds Misused: Government grants and subsidies allocated to sports bodies like the BCCI originate from hard-earned taxpayer money. However, numerous instances suggest that these funds have been mismanaged, misappropriated, or even embezzled. This misuse not only squanders public resources but also undermines the trust and faith of citizens in the system. It's time to hold the BCCI accountable for every rupee of taxpayer money it receives.
  2. Broadcasting Rights: One of the primary sources of revenue for the BCCI comes from selling broadcasting rights for cricket matches. These rights are often bought by television networks, and a significant portion of their revenue comes from advertisements, which are indirectly funded by the public through purchasing products and services advertised during matches.
  3. Sponsorships: The BCCI secures sponsorships from various companies for team jerseys, tournament sponsorships, and other promotional activities. These sponsorships often rely on consumer spending, as companies allocate marketing budgets based on the public's purchasing power.
  4. Ticket Sales: Revenue generated from ticket sales at cricket matches contributes to the BCCI's income. The public directly contributes to this revenue stream by purchasing tickets to attend matches.
  5. Merchandise Sales: The sale of team merchandise, such as jerseys, caps, and other memorabilia, also adds to the BCCI's revenue. This revenue is generated through direct purchases by fans.
