Demand Transparency and Honesty from NHS England About the Breast Screening Programme

Demand Transparency and Honesty from NHS England About the Breast Screening Programme
The Issue
I am now a stage four breast cancer patient as a direct result of NHS England not calling me back for further investigations following my mammogram. The mammogram in question showed a 2cm shadow - a stage 2 cancer - but NHS did not call me back for investigations and worse, sent me a standard letter telling me there was "no sign of cancer".
This is not just about me; it's about countless women who trust the system for their health and safety. We demand that NHS England be honest about the breast screening programme, informing women of the real process and statistics.
It is alarming to know that one in four cancers is not diagnosed by this programme. Furthermore, NHS England has set a 3% call back target for all Trusts, limiting the number of women they can call back for further investigations. This policy could potentially risk lives as it prevents early detection of cancer for 1000's of women per year.
We need transparency from our healthcare providers; we deserve to know what we are up against when we go in for these screenings. We urge NHS England to revise its policies and provide clear, accurate information regarding their breast screening programme.
Please sign this petition to demand honesty and transparency from NHS England on behalf of all women relying on them for their health care needs.
