We, the undersigned, are asking the Penn-Trafford School Board not to close McCullough Elementary—or any neighborhood school—without first providing a clear, transparent, long-term plan.

A financial problem serious enough to consider school closures did not happen overnight. The community deserves to know how we got here, what alternatives have been explored, and why families were not brought into the conversation sooner.

We are also asking for clarity regarding staffing, transportation, and the true financial impact of consolidation. If closing a school is projected to save money, show us the net savings after transportation changes, staffing implications, transition costs, and other resulting expenses are included.

We also want to understand how proposed new expenses, such as full-day kindergarten, fit into a district that has publicly described itself as facing serious financial strain.

Most importantly, schools are more than buildings.

McCullough is made up of teachers, staff, families, and trusted adults who have built relationships with our children over many years. These relationships matter and should not be disrupted without compelling evidence that closure is truly necessary.

This should not become McCullough versus another school. Every Penn-Trafford family deserves the same transparency and consideration.

Before any school is closed, we ask the district to provide:

Enrollment projections and building costs
Transportation and staffing impacts
True net savings from consolidation
Alternatives considered
A five- and ten-year financial plan
Meaningful community input before a final decision
We understand that school boards sometimes have to make difficult decisions.

But difficult decisions still require careful planning, transparency, and accountability.

Do not simply ask this community to trust the process. Show us why we should.
