Demand SIPC Stays FULLY Functioning

Demand SIPC Stays FULLY Functioning
The Issue
CEO, Don Gulley, has led the charge with shifting reasons to close the Lake of Egypt Power Plant (SIPC). The plant has been functioning for over 60 years. in 2007/2008, the current administration and board, believed the lies they were proposed with about the Prairie State Energy Campus. PSEC, OVER stated their abilities and have under preformed year after year. Leaving municipalities and other electric cooperatives on the hook for their debt and poor performance. The coal next to the PSEC was not as high of quality as they anticipated and therefore does not provide a maximized burn rate as promised. In short Prairie State is a MONSTER of sorts and we have to feed it. With regards to SIPC at the Lake of Egypt, Don Gulley provided Union Employees with state regulations and current environmental regulations as the cause for concern. When first presented in September of 2019, Don Gulley told the employees he could not give a time line but longer than 10 years was unlikely. The guys finally got the Union involved and for the past 7 months we have all kept quiet because we were being told the union was working it out. Well that isn't happening either. We have contacted local politicians and officials in the community all to be met with deaf ears. As of right now layoffs for a 1/3rd of the employees will be happening in October, and unit 4 will not come back up. Then within 18 months the remainder of the workforce will be eliminated. Forcing ALL power to come from Prairie State. I urge you to sign the petition for a variety of reasons, 1) WE ARE MEMBERS, we have a RIGHT to be heard. The administration and Board members are NOT acting in the best interest of the members. 2) Don Gulley has a massive conflict of interest and should be recused from the process. 3) More time for a forensic accountant to be brought in and really look at how they have structured the organization. Let your voices be hear, do not let this be a decision that is made by a few men profiting from business done in the dark!
