Hello Friends met and unmet,

Our petition is beginning to show exponential growth.

First, I really want to voice my dismay at the shooting of 3 Palestinian students. My heart goes out to these young men and their families, victims of senseless hate. With equal vehemence, I'm sure all signers of this petition deplore bigotry against Muslims and Jews, and violence against all innocent people based on one aspect of their identity. Will humanity ever master the concept that we are all just people?

I asked my husband if he thought I stop working on the petition since Elon Musk is visiting Israel, and he said "no way".

I have to agree; while we may hope Musk learns something from seeing scenes of hateful destruction and violence on a kibbutz he visited, we don't know if he is susceptible to learning, or capable of personal growth. Probably safest not to count on it.

Therefore we continue, in the belief that an authority with the weight of the U.S. Senate may be able to motivate him to police his platform, regardless of his personal beliefs.

The more we fight, the more we keep the American ideal of equality in the forefront of people's minds (this concept shamelessly stolen from Heather Cox Richards' book, Democracy Awakening).
