The Issue

As an individual personally impacted by the harmful activities on IMVU App, I implore you to understand the seriousness of this issue. I've known friends who used this platform, only to have their lives ravaged by instances of online grooming and outright bullying. Some of them reached a painful point where they self-harmed, while others fell victim to older individuals with bad intentions.

IMVU, like many other online platforms, serves as a fertile ground for such malicious activities, posing severe threats especially to our younger generation. Not just isolated incidents, these situations represent a pervasive problem. It's chilling to learn that the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children reported nearly 9,000 instances of online grooming in 2019 alone in the UK ("Protecting Children Online?" report, NSPCC).

Furthermore, there are real-life consequences too. It's deeply unsettling to know that many of these incidents involve meeting in real life, putting children at further risk of abuse. Platforms like IMVU need to be questioned for their role in enabling such harmful activities.

Enough is enough. It's time we demand Change.org to take this issue seriously and shut down IMVU app, which has shown its inability to guard its users against these perils. Each signature brings us one step closer to a safer online environment for our children. Please, sign this petition now.
