Demand The Senate Oppose H.R. 6090 To Protect Free Speech

The Issue

As someone deeply concerned about the state of our nation's free speech, I find it necessary to voice my opposition to H.R. 6090, also known as the Antisemitism Awareness Act. While antisemitism is a pressing issue that needs addressing, this act does not focus on protecting Jewish Americans from hate crimes or discrimination. Instead, it threatens to limit the free speech rights of all American citizens by conflating criticism of Israel's government with antisemitic behavior.

The implications are severe and far-reaching; this act could potentially stifle any critique or protest against Israeli governmental policies under the guise of combating antisemitism. This is not only an infringement on our constitutional right to free speech but also unfairly groups Jewish people with a government that is engaged in unjust practices.

According to data from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), there were 8,873 anti-Semitic incidents reported in the United States in 2023 alone. It’s clear that we need action against such hate crimes and discrimination – but H.R. 6090 isn’t it.

We need legislation that protects individuals from hate crimes and promotes understanding among diverse communities without infringing upon our fundamental rights as American citizens.

I urge you all to stand up for both Jewish Americans' safety and everyone's right to freedom of expression by opposing H.R. 6090 - The Antisemitism Awareness Act today! Please sign this petition if you agree.
