As a parent with five children in the Hammond School System, I am deeply concerned about the leadership and direction of our schools. Our Superintendent, Scott Miller, decisions have consistently shown a lack of understanding and respect for our community's educational needs. This is not just about my family; it affects all families in Hammond, IN.

The quality of education is directly linked to the competence and vision of those leading our schools. Unfortunately, under this superintendent's watch, we have seen a decline in both academic performance and both student and teacher satisfaction. Our children deserve better! Closes schools and removing bus service doesn’t help the children in any way. It’s only harming their education! 

In his latest proposed contract for the teachers, he’s asking for the teachers to give up their only prep period and not get paid. He’s capping personal days to 100 no matter time of service. Reducing family sick days from 5 to 3. Sick leave being only for the teacher and not for any family sick leave. Eliminate summer school pay. Teacher will be responsible for 20% of their insurance costs! No funds for band, choir, theater or art.

We must hold those responsible for our children’s education accountable. We need fresh leadership that will prioritize students' needs over personal agendas or politics. By demanding the resignation of our current superintendent, we are taking a stand for quality education in Hammond.
