The Issue

As a full-time trader in the Indian markets, I've experienced firsthand the catastrophic impact of the Closing Auction Session (CAS) system introduced under the leadership of SEBI chief, Tuhin Kanta Pandey. This system, which was meant to enhance closing price efficiency, has instead destabilized the market structure and eroded the trust of market participants — myself included.

Looking at the events on 13th August and 27th August, when open market manipulation was blatantly evident, it is clear that the system is flawed. Yet, despite these glaring issues and widespread disapproval from traders and investors alike, Pandey’s refusal to revise or even review the CAS system highlights a concerning level of arrogance and incompetence. His inability to act after these incidents has shown his unsuitability to lead SEBI, an entity that plays such a crucial role in regulating and protecting our financial markets.

The stock market should be a place of fairness, where traders and investors can engage in transactions with confidence that their investments are safeguarded and regulated honestly. However, Pandey’s failure to respond constructively to serious manipulations and to address the ongoing deficiencies undermines the very fabric of our market's integrity and exposes it to exploitation.

For the stability and future growth of India's financial market, it is imperative that leadership within SEBI is comprised of individuals who are both responsive and responsible. We need a leader who is willing to correct mistakes, listen to market stakeholders, and prioritize the overall health of the market above personal ego or bureaucratic inertia.

Therefore, we demand the immediate resignation of Tuhin Kanta Pandey as the SEBI chief, and call for the appointment of someone committed to ensuring a transparent, fair, and efficient market. Let us unite in our call for change and accountability.

Please sign this petition to protect our market's future and restore confidence in our financial systems.
