Demand the Resignation of Principal Matt Haney

Demand the Resignation of Principal Matt Haney
The Issue
This is a painful plea from the heart of a parent whose daughter endured a horrifying ordeal under the watch of Matt Haney, Principal of MDI High School. My child was TWICE within a 30 minute period, viciously attacked and bitten on the face by a male student, while the one person entrusted with her safety merely stood by like a referee, shouting for others to not helpy daughter, after he had been notified by the bus driver (whom is a 14 year police veteran) to have police on scene when the bus arrived, as she was first attacked on the bus. He stated that he would not have the police on scene and he could handle it in house (Even though it was a felony level criminal offense that had already occurred) He did nothing substantive to stop the violence unfolding before his very eyes – an unconscionable failure to protect a pupil under his care.
This incident is not isolated, but illuminates a broader issue of a school not providing an environment of safety and equity for all its students, particularly its female students. Reflective of this is the growing distrust and dissatisfaction amongst the community members towards Haney's ability to lead the school.
Thus, this petition calls for the resignation of Matt Haney as Principal. Holding a position of great responsibility, it is gravely concerning and unacceptable when such duty is glaringly neglected. His demonstrated inability to protect his students, especially those most vulnerable, is a breach of the trust parents have invested in him and the educational institution he leads.
We urge the MDI School Board to heed this plea. Let's ensure that our young people - our daughters, and sons - live and learn in an environment that is safe and supportive for them.
We implore each and everyone who values the safety and fair treatment of our children to sign this petition. Only through collective action can we effect the necessary change. Therefore, we ask: sign this petition and stand for the safety of our children.
