Found on another Members status and not her own Facebook - Chief Claire makes a comment to address the allegations. Amongst the long-winded retort, she states the following:
“Good Morning,
First, I want to say I'm saddened by all of these false allegations about me. To my knowledge, I never had enemies before I became Chief. Like you, l've had to reflect upon what the root and motives of all this hatred is really about. I'm absolutely going to defend myself through the proper channels that are available to me and not the bait of social media.”
“I have never been charged or convicted of anything. Contrary to what Turtle Island news said about me. The documents that were posted about Darrell Clause are documents that only him and his wife have copies of. So you should be asking yourself why our members would want to involve themselves in there divorce proceedings. Or is it really about something else. And who is really the mastermind and why is it being made a Claire and MCFN issue. I will confirm that Darrell Clause does NOT live on MCFN and from what I'm told (though I have no
confirmation) lives across the road at his own house. Half truths don't make it TRUTH.”
“Ashley Sault and Val King are okay about slinging untrue statements at me on social media and at their public meetings. Ashley at a public meeting told members that she hasn't paid her rent since she been unemployed. She managed the housing portfolio the last term and is asking your support to manage it again. Knowing the financial state of housing. Val posted on social media that she took legal action against MCFN seven times and won. From my HR experience, when a settlement has been reached with a former employee they sign and agree that you will NOT divulge this information. You should ask yourself about the lack of emotional intelligence to take these kind of actions and why they would say this stuff publicly. Seems to me to be attempts to shame this Council and to brag about what they got or currently get away with.”
“I'm NOT going to defend Darrell Clause or be deterred about my role.
I'm here to defend myself and this Council. To date, we have NOT taken any aggressive actions toward anyone.”
“Sadly I have had to hire legal counsel to take the necessary actions to address all of these defamatory statements about me.
Not something I wanna do but find myself in a position of NO CHOICE.

This is some of her public statement - she states she will not defend Darrell and states that the documents posted are, in fact, documents of Darrell’s. So truths? They are court documentation records.
Chief Claire goes on to publicly name and shame her community members for being vocal and blaming them for… sharing the facts? I’m not sure what the point is here - he’s still an abuser. Then states she has not been aggressive towards anyone. Then carries on to inform that she will be suing.
She stated she has no intention on “being deterred” from her Role. So she has heard the plea - and has clearly refused to answer the call to resign. What will she do next?
